Check out the most common types of skin types listed below and find out which category your skin seems to fit best-most of the time.
Question: Do you have uncontrollable breakouts and/or a shiny (oily) face within minutes of cleansing?
Characteristics include but are not limited to an overabundance of sebum (oil), it may or may not be blemished but the skin usually has a rougher and/or thicker texture than normal skin and tends to be shiny and have a greasy feel to it. The pores are usually enlarged and clogged.
Question: Do you tend to have an oily T-Zone and/or the occasional break out and the rest of your face is generally well balanced?
Characteristics include but are not limited to properly balanced skin with oily areas such as the t-zone. There are probably few problems with this type of skin with the exception of an occasional break out and shiny areas. The pores are usually small to medium but are not very noticeable.
Question: Does your skin appear healthy, blemish free and supple most of the time?
Characteristics include but are not limited to slightly moist skin free of blemishes and very well balanced. The pore size is normal while the skin is very taut and healthy looking and almost never has a break out.
Question: Does your skin tend to have a few dry patches or flaky areas, while the rest of it seems normal?
Normal /dry skin:
Characteristics include but are not limited to properly balanced skin with the exception of some dry areas (which may vary) that sometimes even flake or peel. This condition is sometimes seasonal due to cold or windy weather. The skin is usually lacking some vitality and needs to be exfoliated to remove dead surface cells. The pore size is usually small and unnoticeable.
Question: Do you feel like you need several layers of moisturizer to hydrate your skin?
Characteristics include but are not limited to skin that is lacking oil or moisture (water) or both. The skin tends to look very dull and it may feel dry and/or rough. The pore size is usually very small and there may be some skin discoloration present.
Question: Are you beginning to see brown spots or fine lines or creases in your skin?
Characteristic include but are not limited to skin that has been environmentally damaged and has began to prematurely age (photo-aging) or skin that has started to lose the firmness or moisture in the collagen-elastin fibers due to the aging process. In both cases gravity starts to run its course, fine lines and wrinkles begin to show, possibly ages spots and/or freckling occurs and the skin is usually very dry.
